ROBO — BVI Register of Beneficial Owners

BVI Register of Beneficial Owners — the successor regime to BOSS, in force from January 2025. 10% beneficial-ownership threshold; access limited to competent authorities and (in due course) to persons with legitimate interest.

ROBO (Register of Beneficial Owners) is the BVI's enhanced beneficial-ownership reporting regime, taking effect in January 2025 to bring the BVI into alignment with EU and FATF transparency expectations. ROBO lowers the beneficial-ownership reporting threshold to 10% (from BOSS's 25%) and introduces a more structured access regime.

Access

ROBO is not a public register. Access is restricted to BVI competent authorities, foreign authorities under specific Mutual Legal Assistance arrangements, and (subject to ongoing legislative development) persons demonstrating a legitimate interest (e.g. journalists, anti-money-laundering compliance teams) under controlled conditions.
