BOSS — BVI Beneficial Ownership Secure Search system
BVI Beneficial Ownership Secure Search system (BOSS), the BVI's beneficial-owner data repository established under the Beneficial Ownership Secure Search System Act 2017, now transitioning to the ROBO public register.
BOSS is the BVI's beneficial-ownership data repository, established under the Beneficial Ownership Secure Search System Act 2017. Every BVI Business Company must report beneficial owners holding 10% or more (threshold lowered from 25% in 2024) to its registered agent, which in turn uploads the data to BOSS. The system is accessible to BVI competent authorities and to UK / EU tax authorities under specific request mechanisms.
BOSS is in the process of being supplemented (and partly replaced) by ROBO, the BVI Register of Beneficial Owners, which moves to a more transparent (though not fully public) regime from January 2025.
