UAE Setup · For South African Residents

UAE setup for South African residents.

For South Africans incorporating in the UAE — often paired with financial-emigration formalities.

SA-specific considerations

  • SARS tax residency — ordinarily resident test or 91-day physical presence test (plus 915 days over preceding 5 years).
  • Exchange control (SARB) — single discretionary allowance ZAR 1m + foreign investment allowance ZAR 10m annually for compliant residents.
  • Financial emigration (now "ceasing tax residency") — formal SARS process when becoming non-resident. Exit-tax (CGT deemed disposal) applies.
  • SA-UAE DTAA — in force, useful for treaty access.

Recommended jurisdictions

IFZA and ADGM most common for SA founders. We coordinate with SA-side tax advisers on emigration formalities where required.
