Shareholder
A person or entity that owns shares in a company. Shareholders have ownership rights but typically no operational role.
In practice
UAE entities distinguish individual shareholders (natural persons) from corporate shareholders. UBO regulations require disclosure of natural persons owning 25%+ even where the immediate shareholder is a corporate entity. Free zone entities permit single-shareholder structures; mainland LLCs historically required two shareholders but now permit single-shareholder LLCs.
